Meet the Candidates

Election for Library Trustees

The Palmyra Community Library is holding an election for two library trustee positions, each for a four-year term, on Tuesday, October 11 from 12 noon to 9 pm at the library, 402 E. Main St.  The candidates for the positions are: Edward Doyle, Barbara Lloyd and Mary Beth Poupart. 

 

Doyle, a retired case manager for developmentally disabled adults, has lived in Palmyra since 2002. He is a past board member of Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County.

 

Lloyd is a retired English teacher and registered nurse. She is active in the following community organizations:  Palmyra Friends of the Library, Kings Daughters Medical Equipment Loan Closet Committee, Pal-Mac Food Pantry and the ARC of Wayne County Meal Delivery Service.

 

Poupart, a 30 year Palmyra resident, retired from a 35-year career as a librarian, most recently as a school librarian for 16 years in the Red Jacket School District. She is a former board member of Budding Readers, an early literacy organization.

 

Qualified voters must reside in the Palmyra Community Library district which encompasses the Town of Palmyra, excluding the portion that lies within the Newark School District.  Absentee ballot applications are available at the library.  Applications must be received by October 4 if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or by October 10 if the ballot is picked up in person at the library.  For more information, call the library at 315 597-5276 or email palmyralibrarydirector@owwl.org.
