Monthly Board of Trustees Meeting

January 20, 2022, 6:59 p.m. This is an in person meeting.


Present: Debbie Nagle, Sandy Goehle, Mike Braell, Chris Ossont, Sharon Sweeney, Sarah Wimer,


Excused: Patricia Baynes-Director (on speaker phone), Sheryl LaDelfa-Treasurer, Ian Priestley


Reports:


Meeting Minutes:


Upon a motion duly made and seconded, “ the amended minutes of the December 16, 2021 were unanimously approved.”


Director's Report:


Upon a motion duly made and seconded, “the Director's report for December 2021 was unanimously approved.”


Treasurer's Report:


Upon a motion duly made and seconded, “the revised December 2021 Treasurer’s Report was unanimously approved, including Abstract #1, vouchers 2022-1 --- 2022-20, with $34,415.43 funds requested and approximately $16,000 for payroll transfer.”


Public Comment: none


Committees:


Finance Committee: Sandy previously shared the December minutes digitally. No meeting in January.


Policy Committee: No January meeting.


Facilities Committee: Patricia/ Debbie reported the Security cameras were installed mid January, 2022. The Library staff is delighted with clarity of pictures and user friendliness of the new security system.


Grants: Nothing new to report.


Building and Grounds: Nothing new to discuss.


Upcoming Trustee Workshops:

Check the PLS website for new Trustee workshop offerings in 2022.


Items for Discussion/Resolution:


  • Debbie led a discussion on a proposed 2022 Holiday Schedule, including the addition of Juneteenth on June 20. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved “to accept the proposed 2022 Holiday Schedule.”

  • Debbie and Patricia (by phone) discussed staffing needs with Sheila’s departure from her position of Childrens’ Program coordinator. Patricia suggested calling the new position “Youth Services”, a part time clerk position. She reported updating the job description to include services to babies through teens, working less than 20 hours per week. Patricia

suggested current Clerk, Molly Budziszewski, was qualified and interested in the position, and she highly recommended her. She also expressed the need to hire another Clerk to make up for the difference from Sheila’s hours (35 hours per week). After discussion, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved “to appoint Molly Budziszewski as Youth Services Clerk, at a rate of $15.50 per hour, with her working less than 20 hours per week.”

Strategic Plan 2018-2022:


  • Completed- installation of energy efficient AC for 1st floor-(2018)

  • Completed-set-up of a suggestion box on the PCL website to collect patron feedback.(July 2018)

  • Completed - back steps repair/improvement project.(Oct. 2018)

  • Completed- external audit of PCL finances (Dec. 2018)

  • Completed-Send Library news through monthly digital newsletters and e mail to increase public access to Library info (Dec. 2018)

  • Completed- Creation of a Community Resource Guide with current information about local services and organizations, in print and digital formats.(Oct. 2019)

  • Completed the front parking area, including, paving, lighting, landscaping and adding a drive –up book return. (July 2020)

On deck for 2022 completion:

1.Install interior signage as guides to the Library collection and all various areas of the building.


2. Create a committee to begin planning for the next PCL Strategic Plan.(include info on the garage, sustainable payroll increases, evaluation procedures.)


3. Revisit next month the issue of separation pay for Sheila’s unused days. Was this policy updated?


A motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to adjourn.
