Trustee Vote

Residents will elect three people to serve as library trustees for four-year terms beginning November 1, 2026. The Palmyra Community Library will hold its trustee election on Tuesday, October 13, from noon to 9 p.m. at the library, located at 402 E. Main St.

Mary Beth Poupart is running for her second term as a library trustee and currently serves as secretary of the Library Board. Mary Beth has been a librarian for more than 40 years. She began her library career as a page at the Utica Public Library at age 15 and, after earning her master’s degree, went on to work in public, corporate, academic, and school libraries. She is an avid reader and lifelong library supporter. “I love to read and love libraries, and that is one of the reasons I am pleased to be a trustee for the Palmyra Community Library,” she said. Mary Beth has been a Palmyra resident for more than 30 years. Outside of the library, she enjoys cooking—and, consequently, eating—especially ethnic foods.

Aubrey Hannig, currently serving as an interim trustee, is running for one of the open trustee positions. She is an avid reader and enthusiastic supporter of public libraries. Aubrey enjoys gardening, spending time with her family and pets, and working on home renovation projects.

Jamie Hansen is also running for one of the open trustee positions. Jamie has lived in Palmyra for eight years with her husband and son. She has worked as a dental assistant for 16 years. In her free time, she enjoys reading on her Kindle and boating with her family.

Voters of the Palmyra Community Library district who are qualified to vote at a general election are eligible to vote.  The library district encompasses the Town of Palmyra, excluding the portion that lies within the Newark School District.

Absentee ballot applications will be available at the library Monday, September 8.  Applications must be received by October 6 if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or by October 12 if the ballot is picked up in person at the library.  The absentee ballot must be received at the library by October 12, 5 pm.  For more information call the library at 315 597-5276.
